Gloria Munguleni is the first scholarship recipient of the Family Copeland Foundation. She is now working as a midwife in a very small rural community in central Uganda.
2014 Scholarship Recipient
Graduated November 2016
Midwife Certification February 2017
Gloria is now a midwife at St. Jude Thaddeus, a level III health center in a remote location in central Uganda. A level III health center has no operating facilities. That means when a pregnant woman needs a C-section she must travel two hours by ambulance to the nearest hospital. Approximately 20 babies per month are delivered at St. Jude Thaddeus.
Gloria is having a positive impact in a community of subsistent farmers with little education or healthy behaviors. Gloria has a 1-1/2 acre garden where she grows peanuts and maize to supplement her income. The mothers in the surrounding villages appreciate Gloria so much that they do all her garden weeding, and in spite of her meager income Gloria still manages to send money home to cover her younger sister’s secondary schooling.
